2017 has been a whirlwind of a year. I’ve lost some, won some and learned a lot along the way. The end of the year is a simple of new beginnings and if you’re like me it’s a time to be reminiscent of how much you’ve grown throughout the year. Although 2017 it’s not over yet (there are still a couple huge events that are in the works for the end of 2017) I’ve listed a few reason why I love 2017, what I’ve learned and what I’m excited about in the upcoming year.
WHAT I LEARNED
Gratitude- The beginning of 2017 did not start out well for me. I was worried the beginning of the year was a sign of what was to come for the next 365 days and can tell you now that it’s not. Through the ups and down of the year I’ve learned gratitude- to be grateful for what you have here and now, to be grateful for the down falls because you will come out stronger than every and to be grateful for your circumstance now because it will bring you to where you want to be in the future.
So practice gratitude, the universe will feel that and reward you with your heart’s desire.
16.It’s okay to not be okay. Humans are emotional beings and letting out your emotions is healthy. Let out your feelings and go with the flow.
15.What’s important is starting- most people get caught up in being perfect when starting a new project, business endeavor or whatever it may be, but the first step is the hardest. No on is perfect when they first start something new. Don’t be married to the outcome because you’ll get better as long as you take that first step.
14.Don’t take anything personally – I used to (and sometimes still am) sensitive to what people say to me, but I’ve learned this year to not take it personally because it’s never about me. It’s about the person and how they’re feelings. This has saved me from a lot of fights and heartache.
13.Stay in alignment with your truth – I’ve been searching for something these past years. I couldn’t put my finger on what it was. I was looking for a purpose, a meaning to my life and somewhere to fit in, but I learned to follow my truth and make decisions based on what is in alignment with that truth. From that came great opportunities and wonderful friendships that may have never happened if I did not do that.
Stick to your truth.
12.Dealing with loss – This year I lost my grandma and sometimes I still tear up thinking about her. Some people don’t know how to deal with death in a positive way and often let their anger hurt the people they love. I’ve seen it happen with my grandma’s death. But I know she’s always watching over me. I learned how to cope with sadness this year, I learned how to say goodbye and I learned that that sadness never fully goes away but it’s also normal and a part of life.
11.Keep going – I have been working in a job that was not a part of the dream and goals I set for myself. I felt like a failure because I wasn’t following what I planned out for myself. I re-learned this year that everything happens for a reason and to keep going even if it’s not your ideal situation.
Keep going, you’ll get there some day.
10.Love – This year I learned to love myself more than I ever have before. I used to be such a people pleaser and sometimes I fall back into that, but I learned to stick up for myself this year and not worry about what other people think.
God only gave you one life so live it to it’s fullest on your own terms…not others.
