Dry, flaky, cracked skin can be uncomfortable and a damper on your week. If you’re coming back from a weekend in the dessert you know what I’m talking about. Skin is a person’s largest organ in the body and protects us from bacteria and germs, but it can’t do its job if it’s cracked and flaky.

Moisturizing is the number one solution to nourish your skin back to life. However, be careful for using products with a lot of preservatives in the ingredients. Preservatives and overuse of chemicals can cause irritation, eczema and can affect your overall health in the long run, according to the Huffington Post.

I’ve compiled a list of safe and effective products that should transform your skin to dry and drab to smooth and supple!



If you’ve been out in the sun all day chances are you are suffering from a burn or two. My end all for burns is organic Aloe Vera. This does wonders to the skin! It develops a clear film over your skin to protect it from harmful environments. Aloe also has antioxidant properties that helps ease the burning sensation of your skin and moisturizes as well.



In order to keep your skin hydrated you must choose a moisturizer that will do the job. Creams and body butters are preferred for such dry, cracked skin as it locks in the moisture longer. I like to use multi-purpose moisturizers for an added effect and comfort to my damaged skin.

Boscia’s green tea oil free moisturizer is great for the face because of it’s ultra calming qualities from the green tea. If you’re putting a lot of product on the face, and oil free moisturizer might be the way to go so you don’t clog your pores, but still get the hydrating qualities that you need.

Josie Maran’s whipped argan oil illuminating body butter is a perfect choice to keep your body supple. Argan oil is rich in Vitamin E to help nourish and moisturize the skin. Body butter is a little thicker than lotion so it can keep you hydrated longer.




Many people think that once the skin is broken they should not too much product on it, including sunscreen. This is the opposite. Because the skin is damaged it is even more important to continue to protect your skin from the sun. I like using mineral sunscreens with zinc oxide for optimal coverage. Remember to re apply every so often so you don’t burn again! If you’re not into the mineral sunscreen make sure to choose a sunscreen that is UVA and UVB protectant. This will give you the best coverage possible for your skin.



  1. MASKS

Hydration masks will give your skin the extra tender loving care that it needs: a deep clean and added moisture. Anything with milk, fatty acids or vitamin E will give your skin the added moisture. Do a mask 1-2 times a week depending on your skin condition. You can even make your own using yogurt and honey or avocado and vitamin E oil. Mix it up and have fun with it! I use the Avene Hydrating Mask and I love it!



  1. BALMS

If you still need extra moisture throughout the day because you get dry easily or you want to soothe your skin, I like to use a nice balm to give it some love. Aquaphor and Honest beauty’s magic balm are my go-to products for on-the-go comfort. Simply use as needed!



Above all, drink lots of water to replenish your dehydrated body from the inside so you can have your skin glowing from within!
