It can be tough to take care of your skin when the dry, cold air comes around during the Fall and Winter seasons. It’s important to take extra care of your skin so it can feel soft and supple even during winter nights. I have eczema –an autoimmune disease that results in dry, itchy, red patches- all over my face and body. It becomes difficult to find the right products that will help my skin keep its hydration.
I’ve tried several products over the years in search for ones that won’t cause irritation and will also keep my skin feeling as smooth as it did when I was younger. I finally have developed a few favorites that get me through the chilly weather. You can use these products for traveling as well!
The skin is the biggest organ of your body and you must take care of it so it can take care of you. Choose products that are organic and natural because there are less chemicals in these products. Chemicals can be very damaging to your skin and health. At night or right after I shower I like to put on a body oil so the skin can absorb as much nutrients and moisture it can from the oil. I also switch from a lotion to a cream or body butter in the winter for added moisture to my skin.
Make sure to use products that are made specifically for the face. Skin is generally thinner on your face and is more prone to breaking out if the wrong products are used. Cleansing oils or cleansing gels are good to use in dryer weather because they won’t strip your face of your natural oils. Extra virgin coconut oil is always a good option for light oils to use on your face. You can also use it as a natural makeup remover and it smells delicious too! Your lips should not be neglected this time of year! Give them a little love too and add a lip mask at night to rehydrate them. And don’t forget the lip balm! Once in a while if my lips are really flaky I like to do a sugar lip scrub to get rid of the dead skin. I like to moisturize them right after so it stays soft and supple.
